Zoe Saldana (born June 19 in 1978) was the daughter of Asalia Saldana and Aridio Saldana, who reside in Passaic New Jersey. Her father is Dominican while her mother is Puerto Rican. Her family was from Queens, New York. After she turned 10, she and her parents relocated to the Dominican Republic. They lived in the Dominican Republic for seven more years. Zoe discovered a love for dancing while within the Republic of Dominicana. She started her training at ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy in which she was able to study ballet as well as other types of dancing.
