April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. She is one of only a handful of female beach volleyball players to be able to do so. In Tokyo during the next few days, she'll try to claim her third Olympic medal along with first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. More than that though Ross will be aiming for the first Olympic gold. At 39, this could be her last chance to accomplish this. However, she's convinced that top prizes are in reach. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that If the team is performing well or at all they can earn a gold. "I'm also going to try some luck." Ross was born in California, Costa Mesa in the year 1982. Her parents as well as her sister were residents there. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of activities while at Newport Harbor High School. Along with indoor volleyball, she was a basketball player and also ran track as a pre-collegiate athlete. She was definitely a cut above the rest in the latter sport. Through her high school years, she played middle blocker outside hitter and setter in the court for volleyball as per her college bio. Thanks to her hard work she was awarded the 1999 Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. In 2000, she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the Yr for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are continuing to play since the year 2017. The reality is that Ross played a significant role on the beach volleyball circuit before joining the duo. It's true that she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments and one of them was an all-star volleyball player. From 2007 to 2013 she played with Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Kessy was Ross's partner on the World Championships of 2009. They were awarded a silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team who won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, edged their opponents to claim the gold. Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement when she retired. They both won beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in the year the year 2016. After high school and several years prior to hitting the beach as a professional Ross played to the Trojans at USC while an NCAA. This was an impressive career for Ross in the university. In 2000, she was voted Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman Of The Year and an All-American. The Trojans had the chance to make it to the Final Four with her help. She was devastated through a tragedy in her life during her sophomore years, yet she managed to become an All-American once more. Through her two final years in the Trojans program, she guided them to a national title every time. Ross was an excellent volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross studied the study of international relations in USC. Margie Ross was never able to watch her daughter's climb to the beach volleyball spotlight. When Ross was a sophomore at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. Her mother is still dear. In addition, Margie is an ongoing source of inspiration to her on the beaches and throughout her daily life.
