Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to twelve poor children, who would all grow up together eventually, learned very early how to get out of difficulties thanks to her incredibly vibrant imagination. In the beginning, before she learned to compose and read the music she wrote herself, she created her own tunes. In the year she turned 8 when she bought the first electric guitar she owned and began singing on an Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. Her first album was recorded during the same year Gold Band Records, a small independent label. She established her locally during high school, yet she dreamed of a bigger stage. She moved to Nashville shortly after her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host at the time was searching for a woman to sing on his show. Parton began her career in 1966. She was then signed to RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. The show ended in 1974, as her own releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene began charting the collaborations they had with each other. Parton was a part of the group that split after the end of their partnership with Wagoner was the one to write"I'm Always Loving You and had it reach number. 1 for the very first time in 1974.
